Working in Alma
Utility and road crews are the bulk of our Alma work, and they have a requirement most contractors do not: the unit has to move with them. A crew working a mile of line does not want to walk back to a fixed point. We relocate on-site at no charge, and for crews moving along a route we would rather set the schedule around where you will actually be than where you started.
The distribution and warehouse work around the interchange runs to bigger headcounts for shorter windows. That is exactly the case where the OSHA floor and the practical number diverge most: the regulation lets you get away with fewer, but a queue at shift change costs more in lost hours than the extra unit costs to rent.
Alma is a routine run for us, not a special trip, which is the difference between a same-week service change and waiting on a route that only comes through occasionally.
